Your business name needs to instantly stand out and for that you need a logo and preferably some simple branding too. This is a very personal creation for you but can also be very time consuming. This is a guide to website logos how to design one.
You need a colour scheme, an easily recognisable logo that immediately tells your customers that it is your company. Do a quick search on the internet and you can see how others have done it. One thing they all have in common, though, is that they are simple to the core.
Here is a link to a website where I created a logo and designed it in a specific colour scheme through out. The customer gave me an outline of what they wanted and from there I went back to them with a few ideas. After this, we settled on the logo and an adaptable colour scheme.
Inspiration for my logo and design
It can be difficult getting started unless you have already had inspiration. I had a look through a website that offers free and paid photographs.
For me, I just scanned through them looking for something I liked. I found some colours I liked, saved them, some others I just liked the feel of. It was somewhere to start.
From there it was gradually whittled down to what actually looked good and gave the ‘message’ I was looking for. Scan done this page, too, to see where I have part of the logo in a different format.
It will cost you to create a website / company logo but it doesn’t have to be a fortune. However, it will involve research and design time. You will also need to be looking for packages offering different file types e.g. you need transparent files so they can be placed over colours or pictures.
Summary
Here are 5 tips to bear in mind from this guide to website logos and how to design one.
- Keep both your website logo colours and symbols as simple as possible;
- Each colour has a hex number eg #000000 or RGB value on the red, green, blue wave length, keep a note of what you settle on so there is continuity of your brand and website logo;
- Metal colours are not often used as it is difficult/expensive to reproduce on the internet;
- Branding utilises these colours and their schemes to make sure you have uniformity over your website and marketing initiatives;
- You don’t have to pay a lot of money starting out to still get a professional logo but be prepared to pay something!
